We have therapists certified in Tai Chi Fundamentals.  This program is designed to be done while covered under the physical therapy benefit to help individuals with pain and balance deficits to gradually develop the skills needed to safely join a community Tai Chi Chuan class.  Tai Chi for Better Balance and Tai Chi for Arthritis are recognized by many including The Centers for Disease Control and The Arthritis Foundation as being among some of the very best methods to improve balance and reduce chronic pain.

In a similar manner, we can also offer individual aquatic physical therapy and group aquatic physical therapy in the YMCA's handicapped adapted Olympic swimming pool.

By providing an opportunity to do the Tai Chi and aquatic programs in a group setting, we are able to keep those needing longer episodes of care to remain active in therapy without exhausting their Medicare or Health Care benefit.  The group charge is dramaticly less than individualized therapy.  This means lowered costs to both you and to your insurer.  The current recommendation for those who have fallen is to continue balance exercises for 50 hours over a 6 month period.  This is not possible typically through traditional home care therapy or typical outpatient physical therapy.  However, it is an excellent extension of those services once they are complete.
